No matter how hard we try, there are times in life when we feel overwhelmed with the hardships we face and feel helpless about our life goals. We may be advancing steadily and then suddenly, we seem to take a few steps back. This situation can be disheartening and we may find it hard to believe that this is part of life but at such times, it is important to understand that setbacks are a part of everybody’s life.

Reasons What Causes Setbacks

    • Lack of Focus: It is often said that ‘success is when hard work and opportunity meet’. And, as important as it is to work hard, it is also important that we pay attention to the right things so as to make the most of the opportunities that come our way.
    • Unrealistic Goals: Having goals and ambitions is great for the growth of an individual. But, it is also important to set realistic goals. Unrealistic goals may result in disappointment and can discourage us from trying harder.
    • Lack of Support: Many times, we need external support and encouragement in order to keep our spirits high and achieve our goals. The absence of such support can have a negative impact on our growth.

Overcoming Setbacks

    • Stay Positive: It is easy to get demotivated in the face of setbacks. But, the key is to stay positive and believe in ourselves. We should take each setback as an opportunity to learn and make us better.
    • Plan Ahead: It is important to analyze the cause of the setback and plan ahead accordingly. We should make sure to identify the mistakes and be more focused on our goals and make sure to stay away from the pitfalls that we have encountered.
    • Rely on Your Resources: We should use all the resources we have- be it financial, emotional or physical. We should also rely on the support of our family and friends to get through difficult times.

No matter how much we may struggle in life, the most important thing to remember is that we should never give up. Setbacks are a part of life and no difficulty can hinder us in the long run if we do not let it get to us.
