No one’s life is free from storms and stormy weather. Even in the best of times, we all experience hard times, difficult relationships, or some sense of failure. It can be hard to know what to do in the middle of a storm.
Identify Your Anchor
The first step is to identify a reliable source to use as an anchor when the storms of life are raging. Ask yourself what has never failed you in times of trouble:
-
- Family – your family can be a wonderful source of support and kindness
-
- Faith – your religious beliefs can offer strength and comfort
-
- Friends – your friends can offer a listening ear and sympathetic understanding
Choose Your Anchor
Once you have identified potential anchors, it’s time to decide which ones you want to use. Think about which anchor(s) can confidently provide you with a safe harbor when the storms of life are raging.
Hold On To Your Anchor
When the storms of life come, your anchor will provide strength and support so that you can keep moving forward. Give yourself permission to reach out for help or to take a break. The fact that you are wisely using an anchor during challenging times is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Trust Your Anchor
Even when you feel like you can’t trust anyone or anything, you can trust your anchor. Believe in its strength and stability–it will never let you down. As long as you hold on to your anchor, it will never fail to hold you steady during the storms of life.
